ECHI SILENTI
Echi silenti began after my mother’s death.
I began photographing her belongings and fragments of the spaces she had inhabited. At that moment, photography became for me an attempt to hold on to what, in those objects and places, continued to speak of her. From these traces, a possible portrait emerges, made of subtle presences. In them, I recognise the echo of her voice, her silences, and the imprints of her character. In the gestures and faces of those who remain, I recognise her reverberation.
Alongside these traces, a second, more intimate and silent passage unfolds.
If photography can hold on to anything, I believe it is not a presence, but its resonance. In memory, I now recognise the only form of permanence.
